Entry Division: Temporary

Entrant Company Name: POP Art Australia Pty Ltd

For the transport of drinks, previously venues have provided flimsy cardboard or plastic trays. These trays are awkward to use and are a two handed operation that often result in spilled drinks.Problems with the Cardboard trays:· Drinks aren't held upright and therefore spill.· Tray has to be held with two hands therefore the consumer can't maneuver easily through the crowd.· Two-handed grip encourages spillage onto consumer.· The trays quickly become soggy and/or broken & unusable. As Industrial Designers we knew that we could build a better Drink Tray. We recognized however, that the value was only partly in the device itself. Its greater potential was to deliver something useful to the brand owner's current/potential clients. Something they hold in their hands, something with which they can experience a tangible connection. We also had a sustainability goal, to design something that could help improve our environment and minimize waste to landfill.

Entry Title: Arnott's Modular Counter Unit

Entry Category: 8 - Retail Food Outlets

Entry Division: Permanent

Entrant Company Name: The Artel group

Consumer availability of the biscuits was key; designing a display unit that food outlets were happy to place on the counter, either near coffee or the cash register. This would in turn drive impulse purchase on an item that held a high margin for both Arnott's and the retailer. To ensure long term success, the display unit needed to be durable, and suit a range of current and new products that were yet to come to market. The resulting unit needed to cut through in store, driving awareness and encouraging impulse purchase of the biscuits. Also critical to the success of this unit, was the flexibility to communicate product prices, as set by the individual food service outlet.
